    OPEN POSITION

    Mentorship Program Associate (Mentoring Committee)

The Cognitive Science Society’s Mentoring Committee seeks an early-career researcher to serve as a Mentorship Program Associate and support the expansion of its flagship mentoring initiatives. Since 2019, the Committee has hosted an annual Conference Pop-up Mentoring Event alongside the Society’s Annual Meeting, matching over 150 mentees each year with mentors to support professional development and career growth.

The Mentorship Program Associate will work closely with the Mentoring Committee on both technical and administrative aspects of the program. The work for this year will be concentrated between March 2026 to August 2026.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Refine and maintain the mentor–mentee matching algorithm (Python-based codebase).
    • Develop and maintain a permanent, conference-independent mentoring webpage within the Cognitive Science Society website (CSS), including basic front-end development (HTML/CSS).
    • Establish and manage a CSS-hosted internal server for mentoring-related documents (e.g., prior sign-ups, survey data, feedback).
    • Assist with additional administrative and organizational tasks related to mentoring events and committee operations.

    Compensation
This is a paid position that includes a nominal stipend ($500) and expenses up to $1500 towards conference registration for the Annual Meeting of the Cognitive Science Society, and conference-related travel expenses (airfare and lodging).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Early career researcher (e.g., advanced graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, or equivalent).
    • Experience with Python and basic software development workflows.
    • Familiarity with web development (HTML/CSS) and website maintenance.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Interest in academic mentoring, professional development, and service to the cognitive science community.

This role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a high-impact mentoring program that supports scholars across career stages within cognitive science.

Interested applicants should fill out this google form (https://forms.gle/n5F885entpt5B3aSA) and will be contacted by a Committee member with next steps. The application deadline is February 20, 2026.
