There are many additional hotel options in the surrounding neighborhoods of Leblon, Gávea, Lagoa, Jardim Botânico, Ipanema, Copacabana, Botafogo and Barra da Tijuca. These areas are well-connected to the Sheraton Grand Rio by short taxi or app-ride trips and offer a wide range of prices, from hostels to high-end beachfront hotels.

Important Note:

As in many major cities, Rio de Janeiro has neighborhoods that are less safe for visitors. What’s particular about Rio is that areas with higher safety risks can sit very close to some of the city’s most popular neighborhoods. It’s important to stay aware of this when choosing where to stay.

Traffic is another factor to keep in mind. Certain streets use special one-way flows during peak hours—especially between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. This includes the main beachfront avenues in Leblon and Ipanema, as well as Avenida Niemeyer, where the Sheraton is located. Because of this, a trip that normally takes 10–15 minutes can easily stretch to nearly an hour during rush hour.

For these reasons, we strongly encourage you to book accommodation in the recommended neighborhoods listed above.

Located about 400 meters from Botafogo Metro Station, the hotel offers quick access to the rest of Rio’s South Zone. To reach the conference venue, attendees can take a short 15–20 minute taxi or app-based ride. You can also take the Line 1 metro toward Ipanema, getting off at Nossa Senhora da Paz station (Ipanema) or Antero de Quental station (Leblon). From either station, you’ll still need a short ride-hailing trip – Uber, Cabify, 99 or Taxi – to reach the venue. Botafogo is a convenient, walkable area with many restaurants and cafés nearby.
